Getting on a Roll Can Be Powerful When Making Collection Calls

27 Jun

Everyone has experienced what it feels like to ‘get on a roll’. Whether you’re working on a project, whittling down your to-do list or just being creative, building momentum is powerful stuff.

Sometimes rolls just happen. But rather than hoping it will, you can MAKE it happen just by moving in the desired direction without stopping. Use this concept for collection calls and you’ll find yourself plowing through them with efficiency.

To get a roll going, set aside the time you’ll need to gather all your debtor’s information so you’ll have it in front of you before the calls. Get a headset so your hands are free to take notes, open files, send emails or faxes. Mix up the calls so you have a few easy ones in between the tougher calls. Keep your call script in front of you, pour a cup of coffee or some water and then start dialing.

After 2 or 3 calls, you’ll likely find that each one becomes easier. Certain phrases that you found worked on one call will quickly come to mind on the next. Soon, you’ll be on a roll, plowing through calls and closer to your desired resolutions.

What are your collection call strategies? Could getting on a roll help you achieve results?
